Origin of GalaxyImp
I first thought of the phrase "galaxyimp" in March 2008, and I've been using it ever since! GalaxyImp is a combination of my favorite sports team (Los Angeles Galaxy) and my high school's mascot, an Imp!
Why Soccer?
I started playing soccer at age four, and my love for the sport grew exponentially! I played for about fourteen years, with a few seasons missed because of injuries and traveling. Currently, I have not played in awhile because of college and work, but I'm hoping to change that in the near future!
As a history major, I needed to choose a plan of study for when I start a graduate program. At first, I chose military history, but I changed my mind after this past summer 2014. I attended a summer class on the social and cultural history of America since 1865 where we read Playing for Keeps: A Early History of Baseball by Warren Goldstein. This book and the class discussion opened my eyes to a new career. Because of my love for soccer, I always wondered about how much I would enjoy studying the history of soccer, but I never thought of it as an actual career. That day I decided to pursue a career as a soccer historian!
